  • Alt

JBL finally announced the JBL Flip 5, which is the successor of the JBL’s very popular compact outdoor speaker the Flip 4.

Let’s see what are the improvements and the differences compared to the older model.

In terms of design, there is not too much change the look of the two models is almost identical, the Flip 5 is slightly larger.

JBL Flip 5 First Overview

The most significant difference what you can spot that the waterproof flap which covered the ports on the flip 4 was removed from the new model and the micro USB port was replaced with the newer standard USB type C charging port.

The Flip 5 will provide the same IPX7 water protection but the audio jack input port has been removed, so the Flip 5 can be connected only via Bluetooth.

On the new model, the battery indicator LEDs have been redesigned and this time the clip what you can use to attach a strap to the speaker was made from metal.

The button layout remained quite similar, the JBL Connect+ button got a new sign.

The Flip 5 comes with the same redesigned 3D passive radiators as the Charge 4 and under the hood, it got newly engineered racetrack-shaped drivers with increased cone area and excursion.

This means more powerful, improved sound with the same 12 hours of battery life as we had by the Flip 4.

To be able to provide the same battery life with the improved drivers, the battery size has been significantly increased from 3000 mAh to 4800 mAh.

The Flip 5 will be available in 11 different colors and will hit the stores this spring for 99.95 dollars.
