Bose announced its first ultra-portable speaker the SoundLink Micro.

In the small, portable category Bose had so far the SoundLink Mini II and the SoundLink Color II.
Their size is fine enough to put them into a backpack or travel bag however they are definitely too big and heavy to accompany you the whole day.
Bose now filled this gap with the SoundLink Micro which is only a slightly bigger than the smallest speakers like the JBL Go, so it something you can easily put into your pocket.
To increase the portability, the speaker got a tear-resistant strap what you can use to attach it to your bike or backpack.
According to Bose, it was made from a long-lasting, durable material, which makes it very reliable.
The SoundLink Micro is available in three colors: black, blue and orange.
The outside of the speaker is covered by silicone rubber and the good news is that it got an IPX7 water protection.
So it is not just splash-proof but can be submerged into 1-meter-deep water.
On the front, you can find the control buttons and the typical Bose-like dotted speaker grille.
It got a built-in microphone, so can be used as a loudspeaker.
According to the manufacturer, the battery lasts up to 6 hours, what is not outstanding in this category.
However, in return, Bose promises exceptional sound.
I am looking forward to testing the speaker and see how it sounds, particularly because it is quite pricey.
At the date of this article (10.11.2017), you can buy it for $109 what is around 40-50% higher what its competitors like the JBL Clip 2 or the UE Roll 2 cost.
