JBL Go 2 - The new model of the most popular JBL

  • Alt

JBL has introduced the JBL Go 2 which is the new, improved version of its smallest, budget speaker the JBL Go.

The JBL Go is a really popular speaker of the JBL, it has been introduced in 2015 and there are already more than 10 million sold units.

So likely, many people are excited to see what are the improvements of the new model.

The JBL Go was a small but decent speaker with basic functionalities, now it has been extended to make it a more solid choice for its low price.

The main changes were related to the design and it got a new, fresh, modern look.

While the small size and the boxy design remained, it got curved, smooth edges and a metallic look.

On the top, the button layout remained exactly the same, while on the back the JBL logo became more stylish since in contrast the painted logo of the original model it is now carved into the rubberized body.

One strength of the Go was that it came in tons of different color options so everyone could choose the one they liked.

This is also the case with the Go 2, it comes in 10 new colors: Misty Gray, Seafoam Mint, Lemonade Yellow, Sunkissed Cinnamon, Pearl Champagne, Midnight Black, Deep Sea Blue, Moss Green, Coral Orange, Ruby Red.

The biggest improvement of the speaker over the former model that it got an IPX7 water protection which means it is completely waterproof, it can be submerged into 1-meter-deep water for 30 minutes.

It is a really good news since it is a very small, portable speaker, you will likely take it with you to the beach and from now it can be used as a nice, little shower speaker.

To ensure the water protection now the charging port and the audio jack input port are covered by a waterproof flap.

With this, from now, the whole JBL portable speaker line-up is waterproof.

The JBL Go 2 is said to have an improved, clearer and richer sound.

This is particularly noticeable in the lower frequency range; the Go 2 has a more powerful bass production than the previous model.

This is a good news since one weak spot of the Go was the missing lows.

As the former model, it has up to 5 hours battery life and sports a noise-canceling speakerphone as well as an auxiliary input port for wired connections.

Unfortunately, the Go 2 will not support the JBL Connect+ technology, so it won't be possible to connect it together with other JBL speakers.

The previous model did not have any attachment option like the carabiner of the JBL Clip 2, however, at least it had a loop on its side which could be used to attach a lanyard or a carabiner to the speaker.

Unfortunately, the Go 2 will not have this loop, so you will not have any possibility to attach it to your bike or backpack which is definitely a step back compared to the Go.
